FOSL is constantly assisting the library staff and helping to improve the library. Below is a listing of some of the recent items we have purchased for the library, donation drives we have coordinated and the extra programs that enhance the library that we have funded since January 1, 2006:

• Ongoing sponsorship of the Third Thursday Speakers Program
• Ongoing sponsorship of the Smyrna Reading Group
• Ongoing sponsorship of the Smyrna Public Library Art Gallery
• Ongoing development of recommended reading lists of classic literature - Ancient Greece to the 21st Century
• Ongoing development of world news media, magazine and reference Internet link collections
• $2000 in children's book bags for the 2007 children's summer reading program
• A $700 funding donation for the 2007 children's summer reading program
• Sponsorship of the 1st annual Plant & Seed Swap and Garden Program
• 2007 library staff luncheon
• 2007 volunteer recognition luncheon and awards
• $2000 in wireless laptop computers for a pilot test program (for in-library patron use)
• $300 petty cash fund to purchase used, out-of-print children's classic books
• An old fashioned, rolling popcorn maker and stand for the children's movie program
• $1000 in stanchions/posts for library patron traffic flow management
• Sponsorship of the 5th Annual 2007 Murder Goes South mystery readers and writers festival
• $1000 in DVDs and Music CDs for the library collection
• Sponsorship of 1st annual An Evening with the Friends - Pianist, Orator, Door Prizes and Refreshments
• An entire collection of new holiday decorations to replace the 10-year-old former stock
• Sponsorship of the 2006 Halloween Storyteller program (in the Smyrna Memorial Cemetery)
• Sponsorship of the 2006 Love in the Afternoon romance writer program and afternoon tea
• Sponsorship of special guest speakers to support National Friends of Libraries Week
• A $3,000 collection of genealogy books
• A large collection of military history books for the Bill Lnenicka Memorial
• A DVD disc repair and resurfacing system to extend their life and reduce replacement costs
