The Friends of Smyrna Library Goals Are:

1. Sponsor and promote activities, events, projects, etc., which will encourage members and the general public to use and support the library.

2. Provide funding for these programs, events and projects and also for special additions to the library collection.

Raised $2000 at Spring Jonquil Festival Book Sale.

Raised over $2000 to date through the Make a "New" Friend Today library lobby book sale.

Purchased $300 of library staff polo uniform shirts.

Approved $2500 intern stipend for FOSL Library Science Internship Program at Valdosta State University to educate our next generation of librarians.

Donated $1500 to the Summer Reading Program.

Sponsored the successful Smyrna Reads program including Terry Kay appearance at the Smyrna Community Center.

Sponsored Margaret Johnson-Hodge appearance at the Smyrna Reading Group.

Sponsored Library Staff Appreciation Luncheon.

Purchased book carts and the donated $2000 for the library to purchase best sellers.

Completed planning for the 9th Annual Murder Goes South... to be held in January 2011 and launched new event website.

Sponsored the October Teen and Children's Reading Program.

Raised over $2500 at the Fall Jonquil Festival Book Sale.
